Apricot Lime Vintage Pop Up Shop Ashfield

I love supporting local business but my suburb of Ashfield is more renown for tasty eateries than pop-up shops. I was so pleased to see this fabulous Pop Up Project by Apricot+Lime  (Rosell and Eleni). A collection of vintage homewares; selected artworks by local artist Jacqueline Larcombe and even more exciting to me - a few racks of fabulous vintage clothing!

The beautiful Thirning Villa (gallery & artist in residence space) is just so well suited to this kind of venture. It's picturesque setting in between the tennis club, the bowling club and the sports oval mean it's a perfect place to sit on the verandah and enjoy a coffee or tasty treat. I'm sure in the roaring 20's some rather fabulously dressed local types lounged around enjoying a Gin Sling after the sporting activities. It really is such an evocative place full of history and nostalgia so it's no wonder that nostalgia features heavily in this carefully curated collection.

"Lockdown was a period of profound reflection for us. A time of pause and contemplation of what is important and meaningful; our health, family and friends.
Our days were spent reminiscing past times with loved ones and the people we were unable to see. To feel close and connected, we cooked the recipes of family, the special dishes we never had time to do."

"While we were cooking the recipes of our aunts, mothers and grandmothers, we remembered the little things. What she wore, what plate she used, the bowl you dipped your finger in, full of chocolate."

"For many, socialising now means entertaining at home. Our aim was to provide quality homeware and fashion that is both functional yet embodies the nostalgia of times past."

"We are pleased to announce we will be showcasing select works by local painter Jacqueline Larcombe during Apricot and Lime. Jacqueline’s paintings embody a genuine passion for capturing and highlighting the often overlooked yet marvellous urban and natural elements of the Inner West residential landscape."
